In November, U.S. Rep. Bob Goodlatte announced that he would not seek re-election this year for a 14th two-year term. Since then, four Democrats, eight Republicans and two independents have announced they are running for the seat.
Democrats Sergio Coppola of Hinton, Peter Volosin and Charlotte Moore, both of Roanoke, and Jennifer Lewis of Waynesboro will vie for the nomination in a June 12 primary.
In Luray, questions submitted by voters were drawn randomly from a jar and pertained to gun control, the environment and the chance of a Democratic candidate winning the general election in November, among others."
